- :Alignments
-
- Good and Evil are concepts that do not work well in the real world.
- People are not quite so easy to define, circumstance can often change
- ones opinion on morality and ethics and a game system, which is a
- reflection of reality, must adapt to reality.
-
- I have taken liberally from other works (primarily the Palladium
- Game system) for my concepts of Alignments within the game. Remember
- that ALignment is primarily important when dealing with religions and
- religious persons. In a class-less game system there are no restrictions
- on which class may belong to which alignment.
-
- :Aberrant
-
- This is a person who is driven to attain their goals through force,
- power and intimidation. Yet the Aberrant person stands apart from the
- norm with their own personal code of ethics. They expect loyalty from
- minions, punishing disloyalty and treachery with a swift merciful death.
- An Aberrant will define his own terms and live by them whether anyone
- else likes it or not.
-
- 1. Always keeps their word of honor (above ALL else).
- 2. Lies and cheats those not worthy of respect.
- 3. May or may not kill an unarmed foe.
- 4. Will not kill (may harm or kidnap) an innocent, especially
- a child.
- 5. Never kills for pleasure (but WILL for revenge)
- 6. Does not resort to inhumane treatment of prisoners, but torture,
- though distasteful, is a necessary means of extracting information
- on occasion.
- 7. Never tortures for pleasure.
- 8. May or may not help someone in need.
- 9. Works with others to attain their goal.
- 10. Respects honor and self-discipline.
- 11. Never betrays a friend.
-
- :Anarchist
-
- These types like to indulge themselves in everything. The uncommitted
- freebooter seeking nothing more than self-gratification. This character
- will consider doing anything if the price is right.
-
- 1. May keep their word.
- 2. Lies and cheats if he feels it necessary.
- 3. Are not likely to kill an unarmed foe, but will certainly knock
- out, attack or beat-up an unarmed foe.
- 4. Never kills an innocent (but may harm or kidnap).
- 5. Is not likely to help someone without some ulterior motive (even
- if it is only to show off).
- 6. Seldom kills for pleasure.
- 7. Will use torture to extract information, but is unlikely to
- torture for pleasure.
- 8. Does not work well in a group.
- 9. Has little respect for self-discipline or authority.
- 10. May betray a friend.
-
- :Diabolic
-
- This is the category for megalomaniacs, violent, and most despicable
- characters fall. This is the cruel, brutal killer who trusts no one and
- has no value for any life other than their own. They will crush anyone
- that gets in their way. Diabolics are usually loners, as most other
- alignments (especially Principled, Scrupulous and Aberrant) will oppose
- them (though miscreants may work with them).
-
- 1. Rarely Keep their word (They have no honor).
- 2. Lie and cheat anyone.
- 3. Most certainly attacks and kills unarmed foes.
- 4. Use, hurt and kill an innocent without a second thought or for
- pleasure.
- 5. Use torture for pleasure and information.
- 6. Kills for sheer pleasure.
- 7. Is likely to help someone only to kill and rob them.
- 8. Does not work well within a group (continually will fail
- to obey orders and do as they please).
- 9. Despises honor, authority and self-discipline.
- 10. Associates mostly with Miscreants and occasionally Anarchists.
- 11. Betrays a friend easily (you can always find another when needed).
-
- :Miscreant
-
- This self-serving unscrupulous character is out only for themselves.
- Power, glory, wealth, position and anything that will make their life
- more comfortable is their goal. The Tv Character THE BLACK ADDER best
- fits this alignment.
-
- 1. Not necessarily keep their word to anyone.
- 2. Lie and cheats anyone for their own profit.
